Our Weekly Fashion Update with Jackie!

Welcome back!

This week, let’s look at re-purposing some of your favorite pieces.  Who says your best summer pieces can't be worn year round?

Here's a few fave looks from this week:

This skirt pictured above is so beautiful.  It's light, airy, and feminine; it has these gorgeous openings in the front and back that flow so marvelously as you walk.  A tank top with this skirt is perfection.  To make this function in a work environment, you really need a cover-up of some sort.  For some time I had been pairing it with a sweater; it does not look great.  It detracts from the skirt and the overall look can get a bit frumpy.  I was determined to find something that worked, because there was no way this skirt was going to be tucked away in the closet.

Enter a great plaid shirt!  Tied up in true '90's fashion, it complements the skirt while providing a super cute cover-up option with a subtle nod to grunge.

As far as shoes, I used my new boots from last week!  They actually work super well with this look.

How about some NY love with this look? J&L New York State Ring!

In keeping with the grunge trend, a black spinel entwined ring would be perfect:

For a softer, feminine look, here's a classic James & Lily favorite: Catherine Ring!

I wanted to try out this look before it got too chilly.  Walking around NYC you’ll see a myriad of amazing looks.  On the train every morning, the temptation to take pictures of all this great fashion looms large.  But I don't want to be a creep here.  So as the old adage goes, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".

These shorts are perfect.  Seriously.  They're high-waisted which is super flattering and loose at the thigh which is a nice contrast to traditional shorts.  And the pattern....oh my.  Lovely.  They could really be paired with a variety of tops, because they're the star of the show.  I chose a sweater - seasonally appropriate and gave the look a casual feel.

I encourage you to try out shorts and tights!  It's fun and could really go in a variety of different directions.  I love the casual and playful look when paired with a sweater.  And a sexier top and a change of shoes could transition this combination to an amazing date night look.

In keeping with the bright theme, I love these rings.
